Default grand daughter visa

We have a 16year old grand daughter who lives with us in Australia. When we apply for our
long stay visa do we include her on our application or do we need a different form for her own visa. We are not her legal guardians but she will have to live with us when we move to France. Her mother will be supporting her financially until she arrives in France about 6 months after us. Her mother has a EU card. She is married to a Portuguese national.
Thanks in advance.

I think the rule is that each person has to apply for their own visa - and only children under the age of 7 or so are exempt from having to appear in person. The fact that your granddaughter is not part of your household just makes it all the more important that she apply on her own.

When her mother joins her, will her father be coming, too? Because, if so, both mother and daughter will be covered as non-EU family members of your son-in-law. In that case, your granddaughter would probably only need a "visitor" visa - though I'd make it for a little longer than 6 months, just in case there is some delay in her mother and father moving over.

When you say her mother has an "EU card" - what does that mean, exactly? If it's an EU passport/nationality, then no problem. But if it's a carte de séjour (or similar) based on her husband's EU nationality then she will have to be "joining" him in France to be eligible for the carte de séjour as the spouse of an EU national.

buckjump -- As Bev said, you'll each need a visa and separate applications (there is no "our.") The following link explains your granddaughter's situation: https://france-visas.gouv.fr/en_US/w...ol-going-minor Of course the long-stay visa, “mineur scolarisé” (school-going minor) visa, would not be required if as Bev said, she would be exercising treaty rights to join her EU father (step-father,) in Europe. Just an additional thought - it will no doubt be a requirement for your granddaughter's visa that she have "permission" from her mother and father to travel with and stay with you. And, if the Portuguese husband of your daughter is not the child's father, she will need either permission from her own father or proof of his death or status (i.e. no parental rights, not contactable, etc. )
