I know that there are some age related requirements to taking or claiming French nationality, though I'm not sure exactly what they are. As a minor, she has a right to object to her parents doing it for her, I think from the age of about 12 or so. Obviously, at 18, it's her call all the way. But honestly, it can take "a few" years to get everything sorted out for your situation. Once you have all that, her situation becomes much easier and more direct.

The London Consulate definitely does reply to emails (although I believe they are current very busy so they might not respond quite as quickly as they used to) - they in fact prefer such queries be posed via email.

Hi All,

Just as a follow-up to this thread, the French embassy in London never replied to my email (sent 3 weeks ago), so this question remains unresolved. I will think about it again if and when I get my French nationality. Thanks to all who replied!

Worth waiting as, until you have your French nationality resolved, the question is very much hypothetical.

Cheers
