Default Advice for potential move

Hi, I'm looking for some advice on working in France as I plan on moving to the Haute Vienne region in a years time. My French is very basic but myself and husband will have French tuition for the next 12 months in Ireland. I am a florist and have a diploma in Landscape Design and also a TEFL course while my husband has a HGV and Artic truck licence and worked on the Ambulance service in Ireland.

I am looking for some realistic advice on the job oppertunities available for us. We don't need to find work straight away, could last about a year before the money dries up.
Thanks guys

Hi....I live in the haute vienne.

In order to find employed work, you'll need to be pretty much fluent, which unless you're living in the country isn't easy.

I owned an employment agy (specialising in LGV drivers) in the UK many moons ago.....so I reckon a good idea if your husband is looking for work to check out the French employmant agencies.....we've Addeco and Manpower in France, so it's a good place to start. Also do some research on where the RDCs (logistic hubs) are for companies....
Food = LeClerc, InterMarche, Champion....
DIY/hardware = leroy Merlin, Brico Depot, Castorama, Brico Marche.
White goods etc = BUT, Conforama, Darty
They, whilst using agencies will always needs drivers.

As to a florist....sorry, but I can't help, though everywhere there are people offering to do gardening and the like, so I reckon your husband has the best chance of getting work quickly.

If you can afford to rent first....do so and the haute vienne is very rural.....so look at commuting distances.

Good luck,
Mark
