Hello,
My wife and I are in the beginning stages of preparing to move abroad.
We currently live in Ontario Canada but are looking for a country with very mild or even better no winters. We also want a place where our money will go further, is safe and ideally close to the ocean.
I'm looking for suggestions. TIA

The next logical question is: what languages do you speak? And what do you envision as your means of support? (work, retirement, etc.)
Cheers,
Bev

Currently I speak only English but I'm committed to learning whatever language necessary depending on what area we choose. As for income, not sure if we intend on working much or just living off of savings.

OK, so the next step is to start researching visa requirements for suitable countries. It can be more difficult or less difficult, depending on the country, to get a visa based on "living off the interest." It's usually somewhat easier if you have a steady source of income like a pension to rely on. But depending on the level of your investments and their performance ( and level of risk), some countries will go for that.

The language issue may be a bit trickier. It can take quite some time to get to a level of proficiency that you can function if you haven't learned a foreign language earlier in life.
Cheers,
Bev

I think we're skipping the suitable countries part. Lol
What I'd like is suggestions on countries that meet my criteria mentioned previously and that are easier and less hassle to move to permanently. I've heard a lot of people settling in Costa Rica, panama etc. so that's what I'm looking for at this stage. Like I said, I'm in the very beginning stages so I have lots of time to learn a language and figure out the visa and legalities etc. For now I'm just trying to narrow down suitable countries.
