Default dubai rents and convenient locations to stay

hi, my fiance wil b moving to dubai v soon and im in bahrain at the moment. i was just wondering which are the most convenient locations and which are reasonably priced too. i heard discovery gardens is really gud. his workplace is in jebel ali. also, how are the rents charged over there? is it monthly, quarterly or annual? can he also get a sim card on submission of passport copy? also, is it better to go for furnished or semi-furnished apartments?

On this topic I am thinking of moving into an area called 'The Greens' and will be working in knowledge village (if I get the job im applying for).

Any comments on how quick the commute might be, how the area is, what is the distribution of people like in that area and things like that area? Is there much of an infrastructure near by>

From the Greens to Knowledge village it might take you as little as two minutes to maybe 10, you basically just have to cross a bridge to get to the other side of SZR.

I would say there is a mixed expat community here, I see young people, families with young children and some with older... I like it a lot here, it is pretty conveniently located to many places and has a bit of a more "personal" touch to it I think compared to those areas, where there is just one skyscraper after the next...

Good luck for your job!

Disco Gardens is not a very nice area but the rents are cheaper than nearby Jumeirah Lake Towers or The Marina.
Rent is annua,l paid with post dated cheques, usually 4 cheques (quarterly) but you may find a landlord who will accept 12 cheques. The less cheques you pay, the bigger discount you can negotiate.
You can get a sim card in arrivals at Dubai Airport with your passport.
Furnished or Semi-Furnished? that is a personal choice.
