You could contact Airpets in the UK who transport animals and can guide you on the correct documentation. They provide a quote and it's up to you then if you use them or do it yourself. We used them for our cat and they handled everything apart from my husband doing paperwork in Dubai which they guided us on.

Main piece of paper work that you would need on this end is the Import Permit, to get it you need the following:

1. Copy of the Rabies Neutralizing Antibody Test (RNATT) from an accredited lab/clinic and must have been done within 1 year of the arrival date. If it was the dogs first rabies vaccination, you have to wait 21 days (minimum) before doing the RNATT

I don't think Spain is viewed as a "rabies free" country according to the UAE so the RNATT will most likely be required, look into it though.

2. Copy of vaccination card:
- Has to have all of your dogs details (name, breed, sex, etc...).
- Details of the rabies vaccine used (manufacturer, batch #, expiry...)
(must be given at least 21 days before applying for the import permit and not more than a year ago)
- Microchip details
- Details of other vaccinations (DHLP or DHLPP)

Also, the import permit is only valid for 30 days, unless this has changed since I imported my dog (March 2014)

I am so glad I found this. I too have been wondering what I need to do to have our Lexi girl travel with us. I can't leave her in Australia. My only concern is that she is a lab/staffy so she is quite big and I'm not sure how she will go with the whole move...

I really recommend getting expertise on side wth an established compnay that can do ALL the paperwork at both ends. There is so much to worry about with your own move. Just one missed or incorrectly completed form could spell disaster and see your much loved pet in limbo. If you can afford it, get professional help. My two cats' transfer went much more smoothly than that of my wife and me.

ChrisandAdele, I've been looking at moving my dog from Aus to UAE too and just so you know, certain breeds are banned from importation. I'd strongly suggest you get more info from UAE embassy in Canberra as I might be wrong but I think Staffy was on the list. Hope I'm wrong!
