Question Any experience on fine discounts yet?

Hey guys,

RTA advertises that during the year of tolerance discounts up to 100% on traffic fines are applied, provided that one abstains from violations for 3, 6, ... 12 months.

However it is not clear if any action is requested from the motorist... for example if I get a fine this month, do I simply have to ignore it (not pay it) and not commit any further violation in order to get a 25% discount in July, a 50% in October, etc. depending on the longest period lasted without violations?

Thanks for any clarifications.

Cheers

I'd suggest you try not to get any fines rather than worrying about how to game the system.

There is no guarantee that any discounts apply and its not 'advertised' as such

I know it's better not to get fines at all, but the initiative is real:

As they put it in this article, you just ignore the fines and their amount drops by 25% every 3 months, provided that you don't get further fines in the meantime.
