Default currency exchange - Ulster Bank notes

so - my sister in law sold our old car in the UK for us, and while i was back there last week, she handed us a fistful of cash. nice.

this cash is going straight into a car here.

We decided to bring it back as cash, rathere than pay for a transfer.

but - the exchange my wife has just been to wouldn't accept Northern Irish notes from Ulster Bank. (they are UK Sterling) They will accept Jockshire notes, apparently, but not Bogland notes.

To save us wandering aimlessly from exchange to exchange, can anyone recomend somewhere that will take this toy money?!

UK banks have recently been warned to keep an eye out for forged Ulster Bank notes. This might be why you are having problems in Dubai.

OK, thanks.
I thought i could smell ink in my sister-in-law's garage....

Have visitors at Christmas - might have to wait until then to do a swap.

I just read an old thread here, and elsewhere about NI and Scottish notes being 'promissory' notes, rather than technically legal tender.
Could make things interesting when Alex Salmond gets his way in Scotland.
