Default Step by step guide to privately buying a car in Dubai

Hi

I know this process is a little longwinded and has to be done carefully to avoid being scammed.

But, I can't find a detailed stepwise process.

Anybody know where I can find?

Tks

1) Get Residency Visa.
2) Get emirates ID.
3) Get a bank Account.
4) Go to dealer.
5) Select a Car.
6) Dealer ask you for salary certificate/Payslips/ Visa/Passport Copies/ Emirates ID copies.
7) Negotiate to get a price as well is 3/5 yrs service contract.
8) Dealer will contact your bank for loan and he will take care of it.
9) Provide a cheque for the loan amount to the bank and the dealer will do everything for you.
10) Contact dealer to get the delivery of car.

Thanks,
Sunder.

Item 9 - sometimes provide a cheque to two times the value of the car if its a decent model/make.

Sunder - I think the clue might be in the thread title .....The OP is asking about buying 'PRIVATELY' rather than from a stealer.

Thanks, I was talking about private sales, not dealer sales. Not worried about being scammed by a dealer (well no more than they routinely do it!).

Hi,
I don't think the registration process is that complicated - the seller and buyer turn up to one of the RTA test centers (I do our registration at the big one in Al Barsha next to the Dubai traffic police HQ).
Car is tested.
Buyer pays seller
Buyer gets insurance for car.
Car ownership is transferred to new buyer.

The bigger issue is ensuring the car is a good, straight car - that has not been used, abused, clocked, previously written off in another country, badly repaired, made from two cars joined together etc etc.

Sellers seem to get ripped off by buyers paying by cheque and the cheque bouncing.
Buyers seem to get ripped off by buying cars that are not as described or with hidden histories.

Cheers
Steve
