Question Nanny Questions

I've tried searching the forums but I think my situation is pretty unique and I haven't been able to find anything that helps.

I am a single mom to two young daughters (4 and 6), currently living in KSA but moving to Dubai in August. Here in KSA I have a wonderful nanny from the Philippines and I would like to have her move with me and my daughters to Dubai. Unfortunately the housing that is being provided by my employer doesn't have a maid's quarters or an extra bedroom.

I know that live-out nannies are possible in Dubai but I've only seen mention of that if you hire through an agency. Does anyone have any insight about whether it would be possible for me to bring in my own nanny but arrange for her to be live-out? Obviously I would have to pay a higher salary for housing and transportation, but this may work out cheaper than trying to get a larger apartment for myself that would accommodate her.

Any ideas are welcome!
Gin

Hello Gin. I think it's better you bring your current nanny with you. Since you're moving to a new country and there is a matter of trust. And if you rent a big apartment I believe all problem will be solved.

You may want to look up changes to immigration and residency laws for domestic workers from some countries, I think there's a limit or ban on new visas for workers depending on nationality?

Be sure your nanny can come with you before committing to a bigger place - or be prepared to employ someone who's already here. Some maids and nannies do live out but not easy to find.

Good luck

I would put your children in a nursery or some sort of facility where you know they are constantly watched. I was walking with my two children yesterday and saw a little girl about the same age as my boy - 20 months near the gents toilets. I thought thats a bit odd but she must be with someone. Carried on walking and saw two women sat chatting on a wall and a bumblebee ride on. Then I thought I bet that little girl was meant to be with them so I walked back to see if I could find her and she had moved past the gents to being up on a wall poking at plants. Thought I best sit with her until they realise she is missing. 5 minutes I sat there with my kids until a woman came along shouting at the girl and dragged her off. God knows how long she was missing and if they were speaking English I would have said something. How irresponsible anything could have happened to her in that time with all the men hanging about near the toilets. Doesnt bear thinking about so make sure your kids are either with someone you know wont get distracted or in somewhere you know is safe x
