Default Hotels open to Locals

A few years back, I stayed at the Amathus hotel with my family and it appeared that any locals were able to use the facilities of the hotel over the weekend....is this still the case? Not that it is a problem to me, but just wondered really

I think that is the case with most hotels in Cyprus now, and not only in the weekend. Not sure if you have to pay a small fee though. There is no charge to use the restaurants and bars.

It depends on the facilites. Anyone can become a member of the gyms and other facilities in most hotels for a fee. If you are a gym member you can use all of the facilties including outdoor pools etc.

A lot of locals are paying members of the hotel who bring along a load of guests.

Thanks Veronica - would you know roughly how much gym membership is? I have have looked on the internet and the monthly fees are roughly half as much as they are in the UK.....we normally pay about 50.00 per month for our membership, but I have seen some as low as 20.00 without an initial membership upfront fee (unlike the UK!)

Prices vary from one hotel to another depending on how good their facilities are.
We went to enquire at one to the better htoels and were quoted 380euros for both of us for a year. That was a couple of years ago.
There are also quite a few good gyms in the Paphos area.
