Register for Tax
Silly question, but,
Am now living in cyprus, not working, registered on GESY, living on my small UK pension/s (paying a miniscule amount of UK tax) quite happily, is it worth and/or do I have to register for tax.
The law changed last year and now anyone residing in Cyprus for more than 6 months is required to register for tax.
You need form T.D.2001 which you can print off from the government web site or visit your local tax office.
You say you are quite 'happy' paying oncome tax to the UK, why not take advantage of Cyprus's income tax threshold of €19500 before tax payable as then you may not pay a cent.
You will also need to complete a DT Individual Form and take the partly complete form with you when you register with the Tax Department.
The Tax Department will complete the form and return it to HMRC to prevent UK tax being deducted from your pension and any other income.
