Default Shipping companies from the UK to New Zealand?

Was just wondering if anyone has shipped some of their belongings from the UK to NZ recently?
If so, who did you use and how did you find them? Anyone to avoid?

I've tried searching but it brings up some really old threads.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give

We used PSS International from UK to NZ and then NZ Van Lines this end. It was around GBP 5000 for our own 40ft container that took 12 weeks.
No complaints with either.
Price was good and all contracted up front so there's no real hidden costs.
Be aware you may have to pay extra at the NZ end if customs decide they want to check anything in your shipment over and above their routine checks and/or if MPI (used to be called Maf) want to inspect the cleanliness of anything in your shipment.
If you want to ship a vehicle then there will be other fees for compliance, registration and vehicle license which will probably not be included.

A big cost is shipping insurance. Shop around. Don't have to go with the removals company. Letton Percival in Liverpool is a good company to do it for half the price.

The best and most secure way is to always go for your own container but if you haven't much stuff then it'll be expensive. There is the option of a smaller container - there's definitely 40ft, 20ft and some may also offer 10ft which may suit you best.
The cheapest option is to have part of a shared container where the inside is partitioned off for each paying customer depending on their size requirements and you pay only your share. Unfortunately this way may mean the shipment can take a long time as not every paying customer will be shipping to the same country meaning it'll probably take longer.

Ahh yes. My husband was mumbling something about a shared container.
We will have a look into all options you've mentioned. Thank you

It wont matter if it takes too long. We have the bulk of our own stuff stored back in NZ. It will be enough to get buy while waiting.

Thanks!

We moved to New Zealand in December and like the previous guy, we used PSS with NZ vanlines - we're very happy with the service they provided, they were also the cheapest. When we researched removal companies we put together this post, might be of use to you.

See you on the other side!

Hey dawngoingnz, thanks for that! I think we are leaning in the direction of PSS. It can be quite hard though as there are quite a few mixed reviews.

That link is pretty awesome too. Cheers for that

And yep, can't wait to get back home!

Thanks Alilek I will check them out too.

My husband is leaning more towards movecorp, now. Their reviews seem awfully mixed :/

I have also used SevenSeas several times between the UK and NZ and found them to be really efficient and good to deal with.
