Default WTR or EOI? age related

Hi.

I'm trying to decide the best route to NZ, it looks like I have two possible choices:

Go through the EOI route for PR (but i'll need a job offer for the EOI to be considered first as my current points are 125 without job offer).

OR

Work To residence visa, which at my age (due to turn 46) could be a risky move since the cut-off (as far as i understand) for applying for PR is you have to be under 50 and have worked at least 24 months in your skilled job area. that would put my age by then at near 49'sh.

Plus who's to know if they change the requirements again by then?.

Depends how soon you want to be in NZ I suppose ?

If you want to come over soon and look for a job while you are here - assuming you have money to support yourself while you search then go for the WTR visa. What about your partner / kids ?
If you go for the WTR visa it only covers you.
As long as you get the Residency application in before you turn 56 (Not 50), you'll be fine.

If timing isn't an issue, keep trying to get a job from overseas and when you do, apply for Residency with a job offer.
I'd say lodge the EOI without a job offer, but still try to get a job offer as the EOI can always be updated at a later stage, however with 125 points you are extremely unlikely to have the EOI selected in the first place.

Thanks for quick reply.
Yes I'm solo so no family with me.

It maybe as you say worth lodging the EOI az you never know it may miraculously be selected.

Nope you misunderstand.
I would have said lodge the EOI with 125 points so you could update it further down the line IF it was likely that the EOI would be selected.

IMHO I don't think you've any chance. Even when the 140's and above are automatically selected and there are places left, Immigration have to get through all the 135's with job offers then without job offers and then 130's with and without job offers before they even consider 125's.
I think you'd be wasting your money.
