Default PR status expired many years ago and entry to Canada

Hi All,
I gained PR status way back in 2009, spent a few weeks in Canada, never met the residency status requirements for renewal i.e. 730 days in Canada and my PR card expired in 2014 I guess. I never revoked my PR status, as I guess I should have.

My problem is that my brother, who lives in Windsor, On, has invited me to Canada for Xmas. Is it possible to travel? I have heard rumors that it is possible via land from the US. I still have the old, out of date PR card!

Suggestions welcome,
Thanks,

Alan

When your PR expires, if you've not lodged a new application to extend/renew it, then that's the end of that PR file and the government will consider it lapsed and closed/revoked.

You can still come to Canada as a tourist (provided you've not got an adverse criminal or travel history)f but you cannot come and resume life under your old PR.

So, pack your bags and get ready for a cold Christmas time in Windsor (it can get bitingly cold in Ontario, so please dress warmly.
