I am from the USA..Minnesota to be exact. Does anyone know how long it usually takes to get your biometrics appointment in that state? I am assuming you put in your application for a marriage visa and pay the fee..then you try for an appointment with the biometrics office? We are planning to marry in the USA, then start all this process. My British citizen husband will be with me for about one months time over in the USA and we're hoping that will be enough time to get everything done. As many have said on here, it's really making us very nervous and we pray all will go smooth for us. Thank you for any advice/suggestions you can offer us.
As it's done at US citizenship application support centers (they do it on behalf of UKBA), you don't normally have to wait long. Maybe up to a week if you are flexible. For MN, it's in Saint Paul and Duluth. There are also centers in the Dakotas in Fargo and Sioux Falls that service MN residents. Pay $300 for priority to rush your application, and you should get your visa within a week of sending off your supporting documents.
I am from Iowa. My fiancee is a british citizen. I applied for my fiancee visa in July, they set my biometrics appointment up within 2 weeks. I was so nervous but it was so easy once i did it. Best of luck to you.
Thanks for your input, Terri Lynn, and for making us feel better about things. We have quite a road ahead and it makes it seem a little less daunting when other folks post and tell of their situations and how things turned out.
