Zambian birth certificate

Hi all,
Has anyone here had experience obtaining a birth certificate from Zambia?
I need my father's unabridged one for my ancestry visa application - I have the short form but I know its useless.
He was born in Nkana, Kitwe in 1947. I can't travel to Zambia as I am in Brazil. I have asked a friend who is contracting in Zambia to help, but haven't heard anything yet. Are there agencies or trustworthy individuals who can handle these sort of things?

Maybe try the embassy?

I've written to two - one gave me the Registry address in Lusaka that I should write to - which I had found on Google anyway.
The other one replied to me from a gmail address and was very vague. They didn't tell me where to send anything, and they eventually stopped replying to my queries :)

Try some of the Zambian group pages on Facebook, I'm sure someone on there will be able to advise...
