Default Denied visitor visa 2+ years ago, will Fiance visa be approved?

Hi. I am about to submit my biometrics for a fiance visa to the uk.

I am an american citizen, my fiance is an Irish national but has lived/worked as an engineer in the UK for over 5 years. We have been dating for 3+ years long-distance. I applied for a general visitor 6 month uk visa 2 1/2 years ago but was refused because I did not have enough money and they believed I would try to find work. A few months later I went to visit my boyfriend and was refused entry because I did not have a return flight to the US and they thought I would overstay.

Has anyone had a similar situation or could advise me if they think our fiance visa will be refused or what documents would help us in UK immigration's eyes. Also, if my fiance is my sponsor only he needs to include financial documents, correct?
We also booked priority service with worldbridge. How long do you think it will take?

I think we have all documents and requirements necessary in every area but I can't help but feel uneasy because of the first refusal.

Documents included:
Skype, email, phone records, flights to visit each other and pictures of us
passport/passport photos
application/appendix 2
ceremony booking with registrar/intended wedding date and location
copies of my fiance's passport and his national insurance id card
my fiance's pay stubs, bank statements and p-60 tax forms for past 5 years
letter from landlord at house where we plan to live/also a bill with the address on it in his name

HELP ASAP PLEASE!!

If you meet the requirements now and declared the refusal you should stop worrying.

You need employment letter and signed contract for your sponsor's job. Only need payslips and bank statement for 6 months (Cat A) or 12 months (Cat B).
Covering letter from you and your sponsor.
Letting agreement.
NI card not needed.

As stated, your immigration history will be looked at, and while it won't be an automatic no, you need to own up, take full responsibility for what happened and are committed to obeying the immigration rules, in a covering letter/note.
