Default Ilr - idv app

Hello,

I hope you can answer some of my questions about ILR. My visa expires on 8 Jan 2021 and im now trying to submit an application this month so i can book an appointment before the end of December. And then I heard about this IDV app thing. My questions are:
1. How soon will you know you are eligible for IDV app?
2. Once you have got the app, is there a time limit for you to upload all the documents and submit application? I am still waiting for paperworks to arrive like english certificate and SA302 and my fear is that it might expire and i would then have to book an appointment.
3. If not eligible, how are the appointment slots? Is it hard to get an appointment?

I understand that i will get my answers eventually when i sumbit my application but i am just getting paranoid. With centres being closed and services suspended because of COVID, i am becoming impatient and scared that i may not get to renew my visa on time.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

I don't think for new applications that they're using the IDV App, so you will have to book an appointment.

If the situation changes, then I'm sure we will be notified about this. Until then, you'll have to book an appointment.

They're only using the IDV app for Tier 4 (student visa) applications now. It was only in general use for a short time this summer

Don't you think its too early to apply now when your visa expires 8th Jan. I believe you need to apply within 28days before your current visa ends

You can actually apply 28 days before completing your 5 year residence period in the UK. This topic comes up on a daily basis in this forum. Your BRP expiry date has nothing to do with the date you can apply for ILR, most people have 1-2 months of extra time.

My partner and I submitted my application in August, and were later invited to upload our documents via the new app instead of going in for a physical appointment. We're nearly done with the uploads now, but I'm concerned that I can find any mention of a deadline to submit everything by. We've checked the application confirmation e-mail as well as the UKVCAS e-mail, but still no deadline. Is there one? If so, does anyone know where we can find this date? Appreciate any help!

There isn't really a deadline if you're using the app, but you should do it ASAP.

Under normal circumstances, they require you have a biometrics appointment booked no later than 60 days after submitting your online application, and you have until the day of your appointment to upload your documents. So you can possibly use 60 days as a guideline but I would urge you not to wait longer than maybe 2 weeks to upload/submit using the IDV app.
