Default Schools for secondary educatiob

hi - we are considering a move to Cambridge, UK and looking for guidance on schools. We have a 9th grader and 6th grader and would like to have an easy transition for them, preferably where they might be able to continue with the American system, especially for the 9th grader. Since we are already mid school year, we will likely not move the family until the next school year (10th and 7th grades respectively). Are there schools that follow the US system with AP courses, SAT, ACT etc that we might be able to consider?

How long do you plan on staying?

I used to live near Cambridge and there is a US Military base in Alconbury (only noticed because suddenly on 4th July fireworks went up) which has a school. I am not sure whether American expats without connection to the military can enroll there but heard something like that a while ago. You'd have to contact them:

If you live in Cambridge proper, it might be a bit far, though.

Also, your children would live in an American bubble, not sure how desirable that is.
