Default Categories for uploading documents

Hello, we've just applied online & booked an appointment but it wouldn't allow us to download a document checklist, this service is apparently unavailable at the moment.
So I'm assuming this would make more sense if we had that checklist because the categories for uploads seem strange.
Has anyone already completed this, seen a checklist, have any advice?

Mandatory categories:
- Proof of Identity/Travel History (specifies BRP for applicant & evidence of sponsors immigration status in UK, so BRP + sponsor passport)
- Proof of application (specifies applicant passport & sponsor marriage declaration) -- but nothing about 3rd party declarations & if this hadn't specified passport etc I would have assumed this meant upload the application/email confirmations/payment confirmations?! Thinking I should upload 3rd party declarations here as well?

Optional categories:
- Other

- Residence in the UK -- assuming this is cohabitation evidence, mortgage letter, council tax letter, letter from parents since we stayed there partially, title register for our house

- Finances -- no idea what to put here since I feel like proof of employment should be under the Sponsors/Employment category further down??Don't know whether we should double upload just in case

- Proof of Business --nothing??

- Life Events -- marriage certificate

- Medical Information -- nothing?

- Sponsors/Employment -- 12 payslips, contract, 2 x employment letter/payslip authentication, 12 bank statements

- Educational -- Degree from Australia, NARIC Letter

Just seems super weird - if they mean english language requirement why don't they write that instead of educational? If they mean relationship proof why write life events? Just frustrates me that nothing ever matches up with the terminology you are used to.

Also, it doesn't ask for applicants previous passports like our last FLR(M), should we include them anyway?

Just feeling super anxious since this is all new & different & we were going to go to an enhanced centre closer to our house but the first google review was someone saying their documents were never received by HO & they lost loads of money so we went for Cardiff instead since hopefully they are bigger & see more applicants, though it's not the same centre it was before, it's in the library & they only had out of hours payable appointments left before our visa expires.

We are about to apply and if it still doesn't work I'll probably have the same questions as you!

I've heard this is because they use the same site design for lots of categories of application - e.g. not all categories of visa necessarily have an explicit 'English language requirement'...

We are including the previous ones we have - I can't remember where I read that was necessary, but we got the idea that it was!

Hope someone can answer your main question. I think there are some other posts on here about upload categories.

Just checking through our application again - the list of evidence does say "All previous passports, travel documents or national identity cards that you have used to travel to or remain in the UK".

That’s how I did it. I assumed that not all categories applicable to everyone. I only uploaded the documents mentioned in the last page of application form and tried to fit them within the general categories.

Ah I don't remember seeing that, annoyingly we'll have to scan his entire old passport for 1 visit to the UK. Everything else is in his current passport!

Doing all this stuff does develop your scanning skills.
Good luck with the application!
