Default Is it possible to renew malaysia passport in the UK without marriage certificate?

Just to give a little background, I am a malay lady (muslim by default of course) residing in the UK on partner/spouse visa and unmarried.

The question that I have in mind is...does anybody know if Malaysia High Commissioner office in London will renew my passport if they know I am here on spouse visa and unmarried being a muslim/malay? Will I get into trouble?

Malaysia High Commissioner UK website says no marriage certificate need to be present to renew passport as long as I have proof of visa. I find it a bit doubtful because when I contacted Maybank to change my TAC (security) mobile number from Malaysia to UK, they requested me to submit a copy of my visa and marriage certificate if I am on spouse visa. That was a bit shocking because I never thought they would go up to that extent.

So I thought of posting my question here because it might help to convince myself that they will probably proceed with the renewal of my passport without further question on marriage certificate. Plus, it is always good to hear more from any of you who came across this situation before.

Appreciate helpful advice here. Thanks.
