Lightbulb US to UK Spouse Visa

Hi, thank you in advance for any responses. I am applying for a UK Spouse Visa and I am a US citizen. I have applied online at UK.gov and my appointment with VFS Global is on August 14th.

I am seeing conflicting information on my confirmations regarding how the Home Office will receive my supporting documents. Are they scanned at my appointment with VFS Global (how much does that cost) and/or do I need to purchase a courier service through them?

"You will need to purchase a courier service for your documents. You can find more information about services available and fees on our visa application centre partner's website"

Why would I need to purchase a courier service to mail the documents if the documents will be scanned? And if I do need a courier service is it required to be purchased prior to my appointment or can I do it there?

Also, I didn't pay for priority service but in your opinion is it worth it? I feel like my application is pretty straightforward but this entire process seems completely unjust. Leslie

Applying from the US, you will send your documents in by post to the NYC scanning hub after your biometrics appointment. I strongly recommend purchasing your own service through UPS, VFSGlobal resells a courier service through UPS but someone on another forum recently sent their documents which got lost; VFSGlobal refused to take responsibility and the courier wouldn't even speak with them since they weren't their direct customer.

Priority service is probably worth it if you are anxious and want to give yourself some peace of mind but it doesn't guarantee a faster decision. You're right in the middle of student visa season though, so it may take a little longer due to volume - It depends on a lot of factors. In the end it doesn't matter if you buy priority service or not

Thank you so much for the information! I have a follow up question I submitted my online application and stated my husbands previous job salary was 49,000 pounds but it actually adds up to 48,960 pounds. Should I be concerned? I haven't submitted my documents yet.

Actually shoot I'm so confused.

So he's currently employed at a salary position that pays 50,000 pounds annually and he's been employed there since may 2019 so we are including info from his previous employment

from July 2017 to august 2018 his annual salary was 48,000 pounds
and from September 2018 to may 2019 his salary was 48,500
and when I filled out the online application he thought it was 49,000 and thats what I put and now I don't know what to do
