Default Applying for a fiance (family) Visa shortly after the end of a relationship visa.

Hi there,

American in the UK

First time posting, quite a tricky situation. Basically i was on a relationship visa with my ex partner which ends in march 2019. Our relationship broke down in august 2018 and i told the home office in october 2018 (no response from them) when we decided that it really was not going to work anymore and we had both met someone else.

I met my partner (now Fiance) in february we were just friends back then but during the troubles with my ex partner, we grew close and eventually fell for each other. Our relationship started in october (when i informed the home office of the relationship breakdown). Since then we have been living together and we got engaged at christmas 2018. I have met his parents and he has met mine. He originally met them in July when we were just friends when he came over to celebrate my birthday with my friends back in the states and he is going to meet them again in march 2019 when i fly back before my visa expires.

We have all the evidence of our relationship, living together and my partner meeting the financial requirements. We plan to apply for the fiance visa in march, but what is the likelihood of the HO approving given the circumstances of our relationship starting etc.

Many Thanks
Jimmssa

No one can tell you the exact likelihood. As long as you have evidence that the relationship is genuine then you should be granted the visa. UKVI don't seem to pass much moral judgement (outside of cases where relationships involve a minor), but you have to admit that getting engaged after two months of dating does look a bit suspect. You really should provide a cover letter which describes why your relationship is genuine and how you've come to decide to marry.

Of course you also need to apply for the fiance visa from your home country.
