Default Spouse visa - No email confirmations?

Hey guys,

My wife did her biometrics on Oct 1st and send the application and supporting documents to the New York scanning hub the same day. I know it arrived the next day as I had tracking updates and UPS said it was delivered to the mail room.

I'm starting to get worried though, as since then we haven't heard a thing. Is this normal? I thought everyone at least received a confirmation email stating it was received/being dealt with?

I don't know if things work differently now that New York scan and send everything to Sheffield.. Wish there was a way to contact them and check.

Cheers guys.

If you have confirmation that it was received you are worrying for nothing. Email communication has always been unreliable. Sometimes you get one, sometimes you don’t.

Ah okay, I thought everyone received at least an initial email to say things were in motion, but I guess that's not always the case.

Thanks for the info.

Sam here. Applied online Sept 20, biometrics Sept 24. Saw the UPS tracking of the supplementary docs arrived on the 26th, but no emails whatsoever from UKVI. I was worried too until I saw so many people on here are not receiving any emails. It's frustrating though. I would have hoped there'd be a more consistent way to track its progress.

There is no way to track progress. The bulk of processing time consists of your application sitting in the queue so other than being received and a descion being made, there is no progress to track.

Application fees taken from your account should be a good enough confirmation.

Default Any Updates?

Hi all,

I'm also currently waiting for my application to be considered; it was received in New York on 18 January with Priority status, but I've still had nothing from Sheffield to say they're looking at it.

Did any of you not get an email from UKVI at all until your decision had been made? Or did you all end up getting the 'ECO Assigned' email from them in the end?

Any advice on how it worked for you all would be great... I've done many visa applications before, but none where I'm trapped out of the country away from my partner. It's definitely not a pleasant situation.

Thanks!

I didn't get an email from them until I contacted them after about a month (via the paid email service... Ugh) and asked them if they had at least received my application in their system. They replied and said they had received it and it was being processed (they really meant in a pile somewhere). Eventually, around the beginning of December, I got an email saying my application was being prepared by an ECO, and then about 15 days later I got an email saying a decision had been made and my wife received the documents back with her passport/vignette a couple of days after.

It seems pretty random how things play out, but hopefully this helps!

Thanks so much for the quick response - it definitely helps! Hearing other's timelines is helping me to calm down a bit, as it sounds like my situation isn't out of the norm. I'm hoping to avoid using the paid email service (as I doubt they'll provide any helpful information), but I might cave to find something out...

Glad to hear yours worked out well in the end. Just to check, did you use Priority processing?

I knew they wouldn't give me much info, but just knowing it was in their system helped me feel a bit more relaxed.

No, we didn't go with priority due to financial constraints, total working days ended up just under the 60 day period
