UK Fiance Visa - Provisional Wedding Date is Too Soon

Hi everyone,

I have just registered there, because my fiancé and I are in a bit of a pickle. I am a UK citizen living in Belfast and he is a US citizen. We are applying for a fiancé visa for him to come here, so we can get married, with the intention of extending to a spouse visa once we marry.

Here is our conundrum:

We would like to complete our online application in the next few days and have all of our documentation ready to go. We have a letter from the registrar confirming our provisional date to get married, which is September 11th 2018. In light of the current processing times, it seems very unlikely that his visa will be processed in time for him to arrive here with at least 28 days for us to give notice to get married to the registrar (Today is the 1st of July). Will this affect our chances of being approved?

We are also wondering what we should write for his intended date of travel, considering writing any date more than 28 days before 11th September is most likely not going to happen.

Any advice anyone could give would be really appreciated. I can't find anything on this anywhere!

Many thanks,
Noel

My salary is £23,259 before tax, and I have provided all of my original pay slips and corresponding bank statements, printed by the bank and each page stamped, between October 2017 and June 2018. I also have a letter from my employer confirming my salary and employment, how long I have been working there and that my salary has not changed since I started.

As far as I know, this is enough?

Ok. Sorry. Pay no attention to me. I have Sunday brain.

Anyway. You can apply no more than 3 months before your intended date of travel. You need to show that you gave made plans to marry like a provisional booking and any other normal wedding preparations like receipts for rings, dress, suit hire, flowers, photographer, etc. You aren't tied to the date. Although, with this in mind, you might want to try to move your provisional booking.

Thank you for your reply. Don't worry, I have Sunday brain too.

That all makes sense, but say we don't change our provisional date, will it being so soon affect our chances of being approved? In other words, will the fact that our provisional date being quite unrealistic cause them to reject us? We don't mind changing the date, but it will just delay us sending our application.
