Default Fiancee visa and the 3mo travel date

Hey everyone -

I couldn't find this anywhere on the site, so apologies if this has been asked before.

The UK fiancee visa states that you shouldn't apply for a visa more than 3 months prior to your expected move date. How do they know when you expect to move? I've read that printing out a list of flights from Orbitz or Expedia would work... is this correct?

Also, what are the ramifications if I plan on moving in March, but circumstances force me to move in April? Will my visa get denied because my move date had to change?

Thanks in advance for your help,

Yes, they just want an idea of when you expect to travel.

No. You can travel to the UK anytime between the issue date and the expiry date. However, just keep in mind that the longer you put it off, the less time you have to get married.

Thanks a lot nyclon! One last question - since it's a 6 month visa, is the expiry date is roughly 6 months from the date it's issued, or 6 months from your intended travel date?

Thanks again!

Strictly speaking, it's 6 months from 'valid from' date on your visa. So if you are to apply today (31 Oct 2012), and put your travel date as 31 Jan 2013 (max three months ahead), then your visa should be valid from 31 Jan to 31 July 2013, even though it's actually issued on, say, 30th Nov 2012 (assuming one month processing time).

If your visa is issued after your intended travel date, it will be valid from the date of issue.
