Default English test

Hi,

Husband has just been booked in for doing his English test.

Has anyone done the English test? Was it hard?

Nikki

Hi, it's not that it's hard but can be a little tricky, just make sure you are familiar with the format they are after a d the way they like things written, also my Hubby got all 9's apart from the "easiest" section which is listening, he got a 7.5 for that.if you let your mind wander or get a little distracted on this element, before you know it you've missed a vital part that you need to answer questions about.

If your hubby is not overly academic then practice as much as possible, there are plenty of free practice sites on the Internet.
Good luck x

I'm looking at booking my English test tomorrow, should be an easy 20 points for the skilled migration points test.

Being Scottish born and bred and with English being my first language, I'll be rather annoyed if I don't get 9's!

We have been advised from our agent that every English person ( including ourselves) think that it's easy, but its only easy if u study for it!! And has said that it's very hard to get marks above 8 even if u are English.
Fingers crossed for everyone that's going to do it
My husbands not got his until Oct as that's the next available appointment, so plenty time to revise.

took my IELTS last year, normally on the listening it depends also on the lay out, the smaller the room the better. I got 8.0 overall, hate reading but i got 7.5.
try top tips for IELTS small book but terrible.you can access it online IELTS - International English Language Testing System| Home and it can be found on review materials, for £20 i passed my ielts for australia..

best of luck..

Thanks for the info. My husband is really nerves already and he has to wait until Oct.
Our agent is going to give him all the revision stuff but might go online to that web page and pay the 20 just to make sure he covers everything.

Rather him than me, he's better revising things than I am.

your husband will be fine, english is not my first language and i made it, but maybe working here in IE for 6 years helped me a lot..
i presume he's taking the General Training IELTS, the difference between academic is on the writing element where you'll be asked on part 1 to write a business, application or any form of letter, part 2 is nearly the same, 250 word essay about everything under the sun..

GoodLuck!!!
