Default Just Wondering!!

Hi All,

Newbie here!!
I was just wondering.
My fiance is being sponsored and I am his dependent, we have both been approved our visa's just the other day which is fantastic - however if my fiance decided not to go am I able to still go to Australia on this visa, it's the 457 sponsored long stay?

I guess the answer will be no as i'm not the primary visa holder but I thought i'd just throw the question out there!!

My dream is to live the rest of my days in Australia as it's amazing and the people are my kinda people so I just hope there is a way around this for me!

Thanks eveyone

Helen

Hi,

not really sure about this question. Have you checked with an agent? As the main applicant myself, the best i can say is the oh can go, and work on my visa. I suspect that i would have to go though; if only to validate the visa!!

Jane

Hi Helen,

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations on getting your visas! The visa in your passport will actually say who needs to arrive first. We have a permanent visa and my husband was the main applicant so as well as the date by which you must make your move, my visa also stated that I could not arrive in the country before my husband.

So if we had split up before moving here then I wouldn't have been able to move to Oz (although I could have re-applied in my name).

Once you are here I don't think it's as clear cut. I remember watching a program about it when I was back in the UK - a relationship broke up but because the woman had been here for a while with her kids she was allowed to stay even through her ex-partner was the main applicant. I can't remember how long she had been here though.

Hope that helps,
Karen.

no, as his dependent, your visa status is "dependent" upon his. Since he has decided not to use it, you are not able to use yours. Sorry

I think the question was a query since she said IF her fiance decided not to go, so hopefully he hasn't changed his mind and they are both still coming!

Regards,
Karen
