Default ACS queries, 263111(Computer network and system engineer)

Hi Guys,

I am posting this question on behalf of my friend. He is trying to submit for ACS and had some queries. Hope champs here can help us out.

1). Last education is Masters related to IT, applying for 263111(Computer Network and System Engineer). Does he need to submit project reports as a part of RPL?

2). Major subject in Masters is Software engineering, How many years will be deducted from total work experience ?

Cheers,

1). Masters in IT won't need RPL. Just a normal application.

2). If there is enough network and systems engineering content in his course, then 2 years. Otherwise 4. It also depends on how his degree itself is assessed. It most probably would be ICT Major as it is a masters degree, but in case if it is assessed as ICT Minor, then the deduction can be 5 or even 6 years. Page#3 of Skills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf has all these details.

Hello

Can you help me here. I am a bit confused. My hubby has done masters in computer sciences. He has 11 years experience in this field of Unix solaris vmware etc..
We are applying for 263111. do you think this code is relevant to his work exp? and how much would ACS assess?
Thanks in advance.

I suggest your husband and his manager list down the key skills he worked with and then compare them with skills required under 263111 (ref. ANZSCO-Descriptions.pdf).

I am sure he did his BCS as well and you will have to provide details from BCS qualification along with MCS.

Quote:
ACS: If you have a Masters degree, please provide documents for the underpinning qualifications like a Bachelor or other qualifications.
MCS most probably will be considered as AQF Masters. BCS as AQF Bachelors. I am not sure as I don't know these courses/ universities from your country. Most probably, ACS will deduct 2 out of last 10 years of experience. There are very slim chances that even 4 out of last 10 years of experience could get deducted. It all depends on the course content requirements for 26311 listed in ANZSCO-Descriptions.pdf, his work/ skills, and how closely is his work related to BCS and MCS course content. More details about this in Skills-Assessment-Guidelines-for-Applicants.pdf.
