Default PTE A Immigration points for English proficiency

Dear Group members,
I found all different websites for calculating the points for Resident permit application. In almost all cases, the points are calculated for IELTS english test.

However, I see many posts where people have attempted PTE test instead of IELTS and therefore would like to seek guidance on
1. Whether PTE is acceptable for skilled independent visa 189 subclass (ICT business analyst role) and
2. Where I could find the equivalent test points for test score of PTE.

I see only PTE academic.. though we have IELTS general and academic both. Can someone throw some light on the questions I have.

If Immigration allows PTE for my case, then I would prefer to go for PTE as the waiting time would be less.
Thanks
Cdhami

Thanks Murshed,
Could you also direct me to official link which confirms this.
The application guideline only provides information on IELTS.

Thanks again for the fruitful information.

sincerely
Cdhami

i found it in
http://www.border.gov.au/ReportsandP...search=PTE%20A

in page 27, it shows comparison.

However, I am confused because most people still take IELTS test. None in my circle is aware of other options. Why is this so.
PTE is for academic and I want to apply RP for work. Is it still valid for me to attempt PTE exam?
Please throw some light.
Thanks
