Default skilled Migrant visa/state sponsorship

Hi all

How long does the whole visa process take from start to finish?

My husband is an electrician and we are looking into both OZ and NZ...

And what emigration expert you would best recommend?

Thanks everyone!!

Sarah

I do know of people who took just 12 months to complete the process. Because of my procrastination and the fact that I lost my nerve half way through the application, it took me considerably longer (3 years!). I was recommended overseas emigration (based in Edinburgh) by a former work colleague and I must say I they did a sterling job from start to finish.

Thanks Spartacus! Yes, have been told 12-18mths... Obviously would prefer 12mths!! The longer it goes on the more you think!! Completley understand losing your nerve half way through... It's a BIG decision! How long have you been there? (if u don't mind me asking?)

Thanks

Not out there yet!!!. House went up for sale last week (now that is scary!). Currently filling in more forms and paying (hand over fist) for my certificates to be certified by solicitors, to be able to teach out there.. I am currently searching for work. I am now beginning to appreciate how naive I was in believing I could get a job (secondary school teacher) in my first choice area,- Brisbane/Gold Coast. Now I am prepared to settle anywhere in the country that offers me a job and then look elsewhere. I would imagine it will be much easier for an electrician.

Please note the 12 months would be if you had a sponsorship by State or Employer. If unsponsored then it can go to 24 months or longer. 18 months is the earliest I hear for unsponsored applications.

Hi amasiam!

We with the emigration group and they have said we can apply for state sponsorship in Victoria - as electricians are on the shortage list... Are most done on
12mths? Or can they go over??

Thank you!

If he gets the State Sponsorship then he should be done within 12 months. Otherwise it's more.

These timings are based on Immi's processing priority with the highest priority (fastest) given to those with job offers or state sponsorship.

The levels are documented here:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...-july-2010.pdf
