Red face Please suggest the best way to book an air ticket from Cochin(India) to Sydney

Hi,

Could anyone please suggest me the best way to book an airline ticket from Cochin to Sydney in the month of Mar 2011?

Which is cheaper; asking an agent or booking through internet?

Regards
Sreya J

Hi Sreya, if you are really looking at the cost, then the cheapest would be airasia -
COK - KUL - MEL and then take tiger airways or any other budget airline for MEL - SYD.

if you are looking at an average option with convenience, then go for COK-SIN on silk air, and then SIN to SYD on Qantas or Singapore airlines depending on your budget.

Mel has more cost effective options from Singapore than Sydney, there is Jet star asia and emirates which are very reasonable in this route when compared to Qantas and Singapore Airlines.

Hi Sreya,

We booked through an agent. Infact we got a little cheaper than the online price. We booked on Singapore Airlines. Silkair from kochi to SG and SGA from SG to Sydney. ( we booked through an agent in Thiruvalla)
Visit SGA website to know about the rates. If you are booking online make sure you get 40+7 kg for one way ticket.

When you plan to arrive on Sydney. Whats your profession?

Hi oz_sg10,

Thanks a lot for the suggestions.... Really informative... I think, I will go by Singapore Airlines, considering convenience as you said...

Thanks
Sreya

Hi ozsolz,

I could not check with any Agent so far. Can you please tell me, how much was the difference between agent and online?

I am planning to go by SGA. I don't think I will carry 40 Kgs as I am planning to stay at hostels initially

I am planning to arrive in MArch, and I am a SAP consultant.

Thanks
Sreya J

Etihad might have better deals, but you would need to travel 4 hours in the opposite direction and then another 4 hours back(since you are travelling from cochin). This will add around 8+ hours to your journey.. Etihad/Emirates are ideal if your starting point is somewhere in the middle east or somewhere in Europe.. From India\South Asia, Singapore/KL/Bangkok or even Brunei are good transit locations..

Good luck

i would suggest not to rely on one specific site,

compare rates from sites like http://www.wego.com/flights/; expedia.com and also websites of individual airlines.. you will then get an idea.. you can also cross check all these details with the rates suggested by local travel agents, like UAEexchange or akbar travels etc..
