Wink Validity of Ausie PR Visa

Hi,
Can some one help me regarding this issue.
I got Ausie PR visa under skilled category in Aug 2004, and as instructed did my initial entry before 26th Dec 2004. I just stayed there for 2 month and came back as I was working in Bahrain. The visa states its valid for 5 years( (that is till Aug 2009). I havent gone back since my initial entry.I am hoping to go back for good in in mid June 2009.Will there be any issues when entering Australia for me ? Please help.... as I am hoping to give up my job and sell all property back home before leaving. I am bit confused about the validity of my PR visa.I did try to inquire about this from my case officer, but didnt get any reply at all.

Thanks..

Hi Romeshg,

Welcome to the Aussie section.

As far as I'm aware (I'm not an agent) there should not be any issue when you arrive in June 2009 since the visa doesn't expire until August 2009. If it's a joint visa with someone else make sure which one has to enter first or at the same time.

Issues may arise if you need to leave the country after August 2009 since then you will have to apply for Residents Return Visa (RRV) to get back into the country if you leave. To get an RRV they like for you to have been in the country for 2 years. So if you leave your entry until 2009 you may not be able to leave Australia until 2011. For more info on RRV see here.

Regards,
Karen

By the sounds of it you can enter Australia in June 2009 no worries. But once your visa expires in August 2009 you will be stuck here. That is if you leave Australia after your visa expires you will not be allowed back in. AT ALL! This is because you haven't lived in Australia for 2 years out of the 5 years on your visa. However, once you have lived in Australia for 2 years (starting from June 2009) you can then look at some visa options to give you more freedom.
