Smile Apply 189 visa process

Hi Everyone,

I decided to apply for 189 visa by myself. Great if someone can walk me through the application process step by step.

I know I need to submit an expression of interest and then get invitation and then submit my other documents. But I am not very clear about when to get my skill assessment and when to do the health check and criminal record check.

It would be of great help if anyone done it by themselves before and could let me know the clear process of when to do what.

Thanks in advance!

Tina

Firstly you need skills that are on the skilled occupations list (SOL)
Skilled Occupations Lists

Is your profession on there? Good, get your skills assessed by the proper authority (ACS for example for IT related jobs) On your skills assessment you will find out if you are suitable for migration for that particular profession and how much experience they take into account

- Submit an expression of interest
- If you have 60 points or more you will get an invitation to apply (they send out invitations twice per month)
- Once you have an invitation you can submit and pay for your application
- Once the application is submitted and paid for you can upload your documents
- wait 2-3 months (minimum) and hopefully you'll get a grant

Watch out, to get your skills assessed you need most documents that you will also need for the actual visa application. You need your certificate and a translation, you need a work reference letter (and translation), you need school transcripts (and translation)

(this is just a very brief description of what needs to be done)

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your prompt reply that is very helpful.
I am a new graduate from Australian university major in accounting and I took all the units of study that is eligible for my skill assessment.
So what I need to do now is:

- Skill assessment through CPA (by providing my academic transcript and completion letter? ) it will probably take 4 weeks my friend said
-Submit Expression of interest
-Invited to apply for 189 visa
-Pay for visa and upload documents
-Wait for the visa to be granted

Just a few more questions. When should I do my health check and Australian criminal record check, As soon as possible??

Thanks again , Thomas

You have plenty of time for those, I wouldnt do them just yet since it is way too early in your application process.

- Look at the skill assessment requirements, see what paperwork you need for that, try to get everything and then submit your skill assessment.
- arrange an english test (if you need one)

The Australian criminal record check only takes a week or two, the health check depends on the clinic's availability ofcourse. I wouldnt do those things until you get a positive skill assessment back and that you're sure you'll have 60 points for the visa or more.

Hi,

I am lodging my 189 visa online, I have a couple of questions.

1. Shall I upload form 1221 along with Form 80 as I would like to upload everything together.
2. How should I crop my passport photo front and back to the size of 45*35mm as required by Home
Affairs?
3. I went to court for drink and drive and my licence was cancelled for 6 months. Since my National
Police check from AFP reflect that I have no court disclosure under my name, should I still put this
information in the declaration that I was convicted for the above mentioned matter??
4. Is it mandatory to upload similar document as single file of pdf or can i also upload them individually?
example can I upload front and back page of passport separately?
5. in the qualification section, do I need to put 10 and 12 grade mark sheets or bachelors and masters
will suffice?

6.Lastly, I have a query which is, I signed a contract with an agent to get my Professional year, TR, EOI
and PR applied through him. After getting him to apply the PY and TR. I applied for EOI myself and now
I have decided to also apply PR by myself . Are there going to be any consequences on my Visa
application? is it a breach of contract?

Please advice.

Thank you

Please advice.

Thanks
