Hi All,

I have also completed a masters in Australia. Have 3 yrs of exp as a network engineer in India and 7 in all bands for IELTS. Kindly help as i have got all the relevant letters from my previous employers and they are above 65% as per the anzsco job responsibities. The only thing which is worrying me is would my Bachelors in Info science be assessed? Thank you all in advance.

Ofcourse it ll be assessed and will be tagged as ICT Major.
2 yrs experience deduction will be done out of your 3 yrs(first 2 yrs will be tagged irrelevant).
ie 1yr will be relevant for points claim but technically you cant claim points since relevant experience is less than 3.

30(Age if above 25)+15(Education)+10(IELTS)+00(Experience)=55 points

Also if your masters degree in Australia is a 2 yr course you get +5 points.
Makes it 60 in total.
Good to go for 189 visa.

Hi Ninja,

Thank you for the quick reply. For now i have 10 points for IELTS n 5 points for my masters in Aus as well.

I understand that the bachelors degree can be assessed as ICT major.

If you look at the below description from the ACS assessment guidelines, it says
"If your degree is assessed as having an ICT major which is NOT closely related to your nominated occupation, you will require 4 years relevant work experience completed anytime in your past work history to meet the suitability criteria."

So my question is, would my degree be considered for Computer networks alone as per the guide line which says "ANZSCO ICT Content
In all educational qualifications, 65% of the ICT content must be closely related to the nominated occupation (ANZSCO) to meet the suitability criteria."

Thank you again.

Bachelors in Information Science or Computer Science >> ICT Major : Closely related to your nominated occupation.
Its a 4 yr degree, 25% of all the subjects should be ICT related and your degree has way beyond 25%.

FYI I have a Bachelors in ECE >> ICT Major : Not closely related to your nominated occupation.

I am sort of confused. Sorry about that.

I have done 60 subjects. 25% ICT Content is 15 subjects and i have way beyond 15 subjects. So, yes i would be assessed for ICT Major.

Now, networking subjects. It should be 65% of the 25% Of ICT content. which is 10 subjects out of 15. I dont have 10 subjects related to networking. How would ACS See this as. Apologize for the question again.

ACS will not dig up percentage for just Network related subjects because you are applying as Network Engineer or ACS will not consider just coding related subjects because someone chooses to get assessed under Developer Programmer.

All IT related subjects are taken into consideration no matter you get assessed as a tester, s/w engg, developer, network engineer or system analyst etc etc.

Ok Cool. Thanks for your advice. I will be applying for the skills assessment shortly. This one was way too confusing.
So what does this mean then " If your degree is assessed as having an ICT major which is NOT closely related to your nominated occupation, you will require 4 years relevant work experience completed anytime in your past work history to meet the suitability criteria."

You are confusing yourself.

When you get assessed under 263111 with Bachelors in Information science your degree will be considered ICT MAJOR (Closely related to your nominated occupation) because your degree has more than 25% ICT content(dont look into it as NETWORKING CONTENT).

In the above link you come under 3rd row.
