Sounds like you are out of luck, especially since your husband apparently already sponsored someone from overseas. Fake marriages were and still are big business in developed countries. Wealthy people from poor countries are willing to pay big money to become permanent residents of rich countries. That's why Australia is very strict in sorting out real spouses from fake ones.

So, there seem to be two options, 1) you give birth in Indonesia or 2) Save enough money to have it done privately in Australia.

if you have insurance in Indonesia, that may be your best option. But, be careful, you may have to fly soon. Some airlines have restrictions on when pregnant women can fly.

A low-risk birth in OZ will run $8000-$11000, but a high-risk complication could send those costs through the sky.

Perhaps your family will provide you good support, your fiance doesn't appear to provide good support.

Where did you get these sky high figures? I read on this forum that it costs $6000, then was advised in another thread that it costs $4000. Reading The Daily Telegraph article, it says that delivering a baby privately can cost from $1200. The most expensive private doctor and private clinic on the lower North Shore charge $20.000 for a delivery.

I just averaged some of the numbers I saw in a google search. Sounds like you've seen a wide range of numbers, so how can you be sure of them?

For example:

This post, after much discussion, comes to a 10K figure.

I could find you more similar numbers if you like.

Yeah. I.ve relied on this forum for info. I cannot use commas, so it has to be done manually.

Hi John:

It's not capped at 6000 and since no Medicare benefits are forthcoming then it has to be all private without any insurance. For us it was ~5000 for delivery and gyn appts, then the ultrasounds ran about 300 each, then there is the actual hospital stay costs. An uncomplicated birth is about 3 days in, but c-section or anything requiring more is 4-7 days. Special care nurseries run upto $1000/day.

I think because we had high cover private + medicare so out total out of pocket in a Private hospital was ~3000, but the insurances paid out 12000 more directly to the hospital/doctor.
