Post Should I go for my Medical Tests and Police clearance certificate?

Hello everyone,

I have obtained a positive skills assessment and lodged my application against skilled visa 189 (claiming 70 points) . The Fee was paid on 26 Jun 2014. Here's the query:

There has been no CO assigned as yet and someone who recently migrated to Australia has advised that I should not go for my medical tests and police clearance certificate UNTIL a CO is assigned by the DIAC!
Is there any reason why I should wait for the CO to be assigned until I go for these last two requirements? I've uploaded all other documents so the PCC and medical test results are the only things remaining.

Should I go for the tests and police clearance right away or should I wait till the time a CO is assigned?

regards,
Shaikley

Default Wait. .

Hi
i am also a newbie to this but what I gather from the forums is that u have to enter austarlia for your first visa stamping year within the year period from the date or medical or pcc which ever is earlier so If ur all ready financially n planing wise then u can go for the last 2 steps to save on timewhen tthe Co is assigned to you else wait till the time the CO asks for the document .

thanks tone! from what I know, the one year timer starts on the date the visa is granted i.e. once and IF your application is okayed, the date at which the visa has been granted starts the one year entry timer.

did you receive your grant yet? did your timer start from the date of your PCC or meds?

Hi ozzi,

since Pakistani applicants often have long external security checks, I would recommend to wait until the CO tells you to get your PCCs and medicals (as tone_n_tune suggested). cprogramer84 is correct that you can choose to do them earlier, but the security checks for Indian applicants are usually much quicker, so the risk of expiring medicals/PCCs is low.

Bottom-line: If you don't want to spend the money for PCCs/medicals twice, wait for the CO.
