CPA negative assessment

HI All,

I applied for Accountant category at CPAA but got a negative assessment.
I have 2 years bachelors degree and a membership of Pakistan Institute of Public Finance Accountants (PIPFA) but they are considering both my qualifications as equal to AQF Associate degree therefore I did not met the initial comparable criteria.

However, now I intend to apply for internal auditor category at vetassess. But I fear that I will get the same assessment from them too. Any advices??

One more thing, do vetassess give positive assessment on CIA membership. Is CIA treated equal to AQF (Australian) Bachelor Degree?

Awaiting your positive feedback and suggestion.

KR,
Eddy

It is not the membership of any organization that will get your a positive assessment but the length, modules taken and the level at which your degree was taught. Given Australian degrees are 3 or 4 years with some qualifications requiring post graduate study and each year a harder level of study. It will be difficult to pass many occupations with a 2 year degree.

Hi Eddy,

Have you got the answer of above question? Your guidance will be highly appreciated.

Hi,

I recently received negative skilled employment assessment from CPAA (as External Auditor). I would like to formally complain about this, without having to apply for re-assessment, because I think that their evaluation/assessment is inconsistent.

Almost 4 years of my working experience as a bank examiner was not credited (reason: cannot be found to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level as a 221213 - External Auditor) BUT I have 3 officemates whose working experience was credited! We submitted the same documents as evidence (e.g., employment contract, job descriptions are literally the same except the name). I have exhausted all documents I can submit to prove my eligibility; thus, i cannot submit an application for re-assessment because that requires submission of new documents (plus I got to pay for reassessment!).

Thus, I'm thinking of formally complaining because their evaluation is inconsistent (i.e., depends on the evaluator/advisor!). I would like to get your views on this. Has anyone experienced this, and what did you do?

Thanks!

Hi, Abood!

To clarify, my qualification assessment (education) is positive. My problem is the CPAA "advice" regarding my skilled work experience claims. My claim for 1 of my work experience (4 years and counting as bank examiner) was not given positive advice (i.e., cannot be found to equate to work at an appropriately skilled level). CPAA only credited 1 year for my work experience. Because of this, I cannot claim 5 points.

As mentioned in my previous post, this advice is inconsistent with its other/previous advice given to my work colleagues. We have the same job descriptions, and even submitted same documents; however, their claims were credited but mine was not.

Any suggestions on how I should handle this? Thanks so much!

I suggest the followings:

1- appeal based on your colleagues results, if they accept to mention them.
2-call them and explain the case to assessor.
3- write an email to CPAA CEO explaining the case.
