Unhappy Frustrated.

Hi all,

It sounds like Iím back to square one again!!! My agent advised me that the best route for me to get to SA was via state sponsorship as an office manager. I needed to top up my points be getting IELTS Ė no problem I got 8.5. However my qualifications have been reviewed by VETASSESS and have now come back negative.

This is very frustrating as I queried my BTEC National Diploma in Business Studies with my agent. He reassured me that I should have no problems with a BTEC ND (I also have a diploma from the institute of management). Surely it would be normal to expect the agent to know this type of information or at least ask VETASSES after I raised it with him. Am I expecting too much? My agent is Queensland based and has all the proper qualifications and comes well reported on the various forums. What a waste of money!

Just to make matters worse my wife is a teacher in charge of the local nursery unit but unfortunately only works 18.5 hrs 1.5 short of the 20hrs per week needed.

Where on earth do I go from here?

IrishStew.

Just out of interest is it a 'Ordinary-OND' or a 'Higher-HND' Diploma you have?

Does VETASSESS give any info as to how you can make up your skills?

I didn't have to go through them (I was second applicant and assessed by ACS for IT skills) so I'm not sure how they work.

So there's no other way? For the ACS (I know it's different skills) if you don't have a degree you can prove what you did through Recognition of Prior Learning so I was wondering if anything like that was available for you. It's a lot of paperwork (so I've heard) but it's better than being turned down.....

Thanks, I will check that out, but I don't think so.
There has got to be a solution somewhere!
