Default EA Work Experience Assessment (Comment)

Hi guys,

I am a Polymer & Petrochemical Engineer. I am trying to assess my education and work experience as Engineering Technologist from Engineers Australia. I did a job for 4 months with title "Management Trainee Officer- Production". In this job I was an active member of the production team like feeding polymer granules in the machine, testing finished goods, solving problems etc.

But I have received a comment by EA "This work experience as Management Trainee is not related to your nominated occupation. In addition, you have failed to submit SECONDARY document as required and listed in the MSA booklet. Therefore this work experience will not be recorded"

1) Please suggest what reply comment should I post? How do I explain that my work experience was relevant.
2) Also I am trying to get EOBI document (pension doc) to submit as secondary document. What else can I arrange to submit? I was not in the taxable income slab so I don't have any tax document.

Thanks in advance

Masnoon

This work is not for Engineering technologiest. This is labor work. You need to get a letter to explain your duties in line with the job description of ET. Mainly problem solving, design, experimental work.

Hi, many thanks for your reply. I did a lot of tasks and few of them were labour tasks as well. But the JD I attached with my application was the following:

1) To carry out production plan given by production manager.
2) Take care of plant and maintain good housekeeping.
3) Handling of raw materials and finished goods produced at plant.
4) To produce quality product as per (COMPANY NAME) specification.
5) Coordinate with lab officer to verify lab results of produced film.

This JD was on company letter head and I submitted the same to EA. I think the job has to be related to engineering to at least some extent in order to get assessment as Engineering Technologist. I mean I am not asking them to give me Chemical Engineer status. But still I got a comment. I can't find JD of Engineering Technologist on the ANZSCO website. What is the JD of Engineering Technologist? Can I get any samples?

Please suggest me what should I do now?

Thanks

From what I googled (from abs website):

233914 ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST

Analyses and modifies new and existing engineering technologies and applies them in the testing and implementation of engineering projects. Registration or licensing may be required.
Skill Level: 1

Specialisations:

Aeronautical Engineering Technologist
Agricultural Engineering Technologist
Biomedical Engineering Technologist
Chemical Engineering Technologist
Industrial Engineering Technologist
Mining Engineering Technologist

I assume you applied for 233914; therefore, I can see you should have explained your duties if there were any as receiving a task from your superior to produce let's say plastics with certain properties and I assume you would take A, B, C chemicals for increasing property X, Y, Z - produce it, test it and report what you got.
That's how I would have done it, I mean explaining my duties if I were Polymer & Petrochemical Engineering Technologist.

Well I have already submitted the exact JD to EA that I got from my company. They are not giving me any other letters. If I explain in the comment box that this work was relevant, would it work? How should I explain?

I am not sure whether you can sway them towards changing their mind. It should be a letter from your employer describing your duties. It is hard to say if you can convince them without being engineering technologist in Polymer & Petrochemical Engineering and without seeing the actual letter. However, a follow-up letter from your company with additional information given on your request could bring some clarity for them if there was any uncertainty. But I tend to believe Institution of Engineers Australia assessed your evidence correctly and came to a conclusion it is not relevant. Unless you can explain the nature of your work in more detail. This is a 4 month period of employment, is it? What difference does it make to in regard to points claimed for working experience?
Cheers

Hello. Sorry for riding in this thread without contributing to the original question but may i ask here if you know if "Engineers Australia" also dictate a "Date Deemed Skilled" like Vetassess does? This is like deducting years of experience from your claimed years of experience?
