Default TRA/VETASSESS for electrician

Hi Everyone,

It's my first time to post and I have never been active in such forums and this might be the perfect time. Anyone can give me thoughts about Independent Skilled Migration visa for Australia? I have been reading a lot about the processes and it all starts with an assessment with assessing authority. I have read also about the CSL and I am into Electrical field. In the form 1121i.pdf list the assessing auth is TRA/VETASSESS does this mean anyone of these I can have my assessment? or both? or just VETASSESS onyl? I tried checking both websites and they have different rates? I am just confused because most occupations has only one assessing auth. Thanks. Help will be much appreciated.

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum.

I've checked on the forum and all the electricians on here have gone via VETASSES for their skills assessment. Have a search and you'll find quite a bit of info here.

Whether the TRA or Vetassess is the right authority will depend on where you are from.

If you are an Electrician or Electrical Powerline Tradesperson from South Africa, United Kingdom, India, Sri Lanka or the Philippines you will have to be assessed by Vetassess. If you are form any other country then the correct assessing body is the TRA.

If you are thinking of another electrical type profession, then the TRA would be the right authority.

If you need more help drop me a line.

Cheers,
Veronika

Just for follow up questions, My husband is a licensed Electrical Engineer here in Philippines. I understand that it will be a different standard for Australia, will it be a wiser decision to nominate a lower occupation related to Electrical profession like General electrician or Electrician (special class)? Would this be a greater chance of being recognized than jumping into Engineer-Electrical assessment?

Aren't fees mentioned on the VETTASSES website? I'm sure it'll be on one of the downloads or in the FAQ section.

Fees and payment (General professional occupation) - VETASSESS
