Default Existing 189 EOI - Claim partner points w.e.f. Nov 2019

Hi All,

I have an existing EOI for 189 subclass, I cannot claim partner points as my spouse has no Skill Assessment but competent English.

In the existing application process, I do not see an option to update English competency for my partner unless she has a valid skill assessment. As per new the changes effective November 2019, EOI with spouseís competent English but no skills for skilled partner points will gain 5 points automatically.

How I will gain 5 points for partner's competent English w.e.f November 2019?

Thanks!

In all probability, a new column will be added in Skillselect on 16 nov, in which you can claim the spouse English points

Wait for the fine print

Cheers

Thanks, NB.

But I think this may impact my DOE, as this will revise my points.

Post November DOE won't matter most likely. Instead priority would like PR/citizen partners first followed by skilled partner and single then English.

Department haven't come out with exact criteria that how they will manage the same points etc. So let's see what they tell next month or so.

Higher points are always preferable to older date of effect
I donít understand your apprehension

The issue is - Singles would get an additional 10 while keeping the same DOE/ Partners with skills will get 5 keeping the same DOE/ Only affected would be partners with no skill assessment but competent English. If you ask me, a bit unfair!

What made you think this way?
I anticipate new rules won't affect EOI date unless partner's English exam was taken after EOI date, in which case EOI date should be equalized with the exam date.

Hi All,
Does anyone have a clarity on the change in DOE when updating details regarding partner English (competent) points?
I haven't updated my partner English details yet on skillselect.
My partner hasn't taken the IELTS/PTE yet.

Currently my DOE is 31/10/2018 with 70 points foe 189 visa & 75 for 190.

Date of effect will change when you claim the additional 5 points to current date
