Default Details on ICT Project Manager

Hi,
I am having 15+ years of experience and currently since last 7 years working as a Project Manager in India. My question is that do I need to apply for Skill assessment in ICT Project Manager skill or am I eligible to apply for Software Engineer as well as my background is from software development background itself and for 12 years I have been involved in the software development work.

As we understand that Software engineer is available in both subclass 189 and 190 and ICT Project manager is only eligible for 190.

Please suggest.

ACS would only count the last ten year experience in which case after deductions of initial two years or more you would left with maximum 8 years giving you maximum points. Though with this 8 years you would have to see which Job code gives you maximum benefit. This is just my understanding so seniors may advise better. Meanwhile reality can only be seen once you apply for ACS. Good luck.

Thanks for the details. However my question still remain unanswered as my question is to which category should I go for the Skill Assessment with ACS?

To make it clear for you. ACS assessment is purely based on the roles and responsibilities letter you get from your company. If you can get a letter for project manager role which overlaps with software engineer role and responsibilities defined in ACS guideline document then go for it. Otherwise you would have to opt for project manager code only because that's the recent one. In some cases if they feel like some other code is appropriate the case officer do advise you accordingly. Nobody can decide this for you and therefore you would have to make the choice which suits you best. Good luck.

Sure, Thanks for the response. I will see the guidelines from ACS on both the roles.

Hi singh.inderjeet ,

Regardless of your title, if 65% of your roles and responsibilities is closely related to the responsibilities mentioned in the guidelines, then you can apply for that job code. This is valid for last 10 years of jobs as mentioned by members. My current title is a Software development manager, and I've applied as software engineer with ACS and they've approved it. I could do that because many of my daily activities are related to software engineer, like researching technologies, code review, software architecture design...etc. However, you may find another one with same title but with different responsibilities that focuses only on the management part rather than the technical part, so he would have less chances in getting his job assessed positively.

good luck
