Post suggestion on IELTS EOR in speaking and writing

Hi all,

I gave computer-delivered IELTS test in August 2019.
Result
Listening 8
Reading 7
Speaking 6.5
Writing 6

Earlier, I gave in the month of June 2019.
Result
Listening 7
Reading 6.5
Speaking 6.5
Writing 5.5

To be very frank, I am confident that it was my best shot in both speaking and writing.
Should I apply for revaluation for August test? Please suggest.

You can but the chances that your score will change is rather slim. Usually not quite worth the wait and cost. Have you considered PTE?

In 2016, I gave IELTS and PTE both.
IELTS score from BC was
L-8
R-7
W-6.5
S-7
Don't remember the PTE score.
Actually, I may apply for Canada PR too that is why opted for IELTS.

I agree it is a waste of time and money and both of them are very less for me. But is it still worth taking a risk?

My suggestion would be not to do the re-assess.

For IELTS writing, 5.5-6 is actually very far from band 7 so there would be almost no room to increase your score. The markers have strict rules as in how to give score. I could say the majority of fluent English speakers found their essays stuck on band 6.5 because these essays are not "perfect". I personally recommended the website called IELTS Advantage and it helped me to gain 7 in writing.

cheers,

I agree that they have strict rules, but when you judge yourself on the basis of scoring parameters then you can roughly evaluate your own performance. Further, doing reassessment is sheer luck and probability of losing the stake is high.
Moreover, I tried advantage website but didn't find much fruitful.

Any idea idp ielts are rechecked from London or Australia ?

Unfortunate...
Actually, they should give us feedback so that we can rectify our mistakes.

Don't waste money in revaluation.. Chances of score change are very slim, rather resit for test. I applied twice and I was pretty sure score will change but unfortunately didn't happen..

Sent in for remark once. No luck. Chances are very slim. Also have not heard of anyones point change by more than 0.5 when there was a change. The test was written in South Africa and they sent in back to the UK for remark, so had a long wait. They mark according to a very strict standard. You can think if someone did in fact have a substantial change in points and this was made public knowledge to the rest of the test takers what a problem this would cause for IELTS. I believe they are very aware of this and hence reluctant to make changes.
