Default Countries visited for more than 3 months

Hi,

I am filling the subclass 600 visa form to visit Australia and I got this questions :

In the last five years, has any applicant visited, or lived, outside their country of passport, for more than 3 consecutive months? Do not include time spent in Australia.

I am originally from El Salvador, I have a Salvadorian passport, but I live in Switzerland. I have a Swiss work permit and I've been here since 2015.

So, logically, I answered YES, I've been out of my country of passport (El Salv.) for more than 3 consecutive months since I've been in Switzerland for 4 years.

Then it asks me "from when" : no problem, I put the date I arrived in Switzerland, and "to when"... well I am still here and I am not leaving. However I can't leave it blank.

What shall I do?

Thank you very much for your help.

Put the current date when you are launching application.

But isn't this going to imply that I will be going back to E Salv., and therefore contradict my other answers and the other elements I mentioned such as 1) I have a Swiss work permit 2) I am married to a Swiss man 3) I have 2 companies here in Switzerland... ?

No it doesnt automatically that you would be going back immediately. They would ask for you to put Swiss Work Permit evidence and you may also need to put your company letter stating that you would be coming back to join them as their employee. (Not always but some countries residents do need this). The only thing they need is your current status in order to decide your visa output.

Ok thank you, I did what you recommended and finished the form, but it didn't ask me for any kind of permit evidence or anything... Does that come later? Are they going to contact me after I've lodged it to ask me for additional info?

I can't believe I have to go through all that paperwork for a 3-week holiday... -_-

Document upload sections come in the end where it asks for all the relevant docs to be uploaded. If it didn't ask then you are all good. if applicable, you may be getting one mail from immi account and you would have to schedule to biometric afterwards. (Assuming its needed for you. For me, it was needed but my passport ranks 4th from the bottom )

For me after the biometric step, it comes either direct grant or request for additional docs. I had to upload all the docs like bank statements, work permit, office letter, sponsor letter etc. so all that was properly done and followed by biometric granted me direct visa grant. Good Luck

Thanks for all the info!

I hope I don't have to go for biometrics... the closest office is Berlin, 950km away...
