Default Visa 189 - Advice - General Questions

hi everyone i have a few questions regarding visa 189.

1-) As a university lecturer, let's say i have 90 points and i submit my express of interest. How long roughly after would i be able to take the invitation?

2-) Do i have to get assessed my australia work experience by the related professional body, which is vetassess?

3-) Do i get 5 points for the specialist education qualification? How can i check this on the cricos' website? My area is international relations. i dont think so actually but i want to be sure.

4-) My partner is skilled accountant, i want to include him too. should i wait for november to be able to get 10 points instead of 5 points? I think new changes will be put into effect in november

please help me. I appreciate your effort, thanks in advance.

Hi Baldur,

1. No one can predict invitation.

2. Yes, check for the relevant skills assessment authority.

3. Check the relevant skills assessment authority Website.

4. No, you can get done with the spouse skills assessment done now.

Have a look at the Migration Amendment (New Skilled Regional Visas) Regulations 2019:

Good Luck Baldur!!

Hi baldur,

1) 85+ pointers will get invitations quite soon. But don't get too optimistic unless you are 100% sure you can claim these points.

2) Yes you do. you will have to get positive assessment from Vetassess before you submit EOI. Vetassess will assess your occupation and also assess the number of skilled working experience which you could claim in point calculation.

3) STEM courses will be regarded as specialist education qualification if you have done at least 2 years of academic research course in Australia. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics‎. therefore I don't think international relations is one of them.

4) Get your spouse a skill assessment and English test in hand will be easier because now is already July and skill assessment could take a lot of time.

Cheers,
