Default PR - Travel Option Expiring

Hi Everyone, I'm on a PR visa, but the travel option expires in the middle of October.

I have booked overseas travel for 3 weeks in August and will return to Australia in September.

Is the travel validity like a passport where you need to have 6 months before it expires?

Or is it fine to renew (get a Resident Return Visa) once I'm back in Oz?

You can return even on the day your travel rights expire
As long as you crossed immigration and are on Australian soil on that day, you are safe

You can apply for the RRV after you return also
But if I were in your shoes, I would take a RRV and then go as you never know what may happen when you are travelling
What’s a few months here and there is my personal theory

Cheers

You might want to do your own research, but it's not like a passport. As long as on the date of entry your PR is valid for the 'travel option' you will be fine. But if you need to travel beyond that date, you need to get an extension/waiver.
