Default Partner points be taken into consideration?

Hi people,
I am planning to apply PR (189) in Australia and I am completing 4 years IT experience in March and I am from Electronics & Instrumentation Engg branch. And my partner is having 3.9 years IT experience and she is from Electrical & Electronics Engg branch.

I am planning to take 5 points from her since her PTE score is 65 and she is 26 years old.

Can you please let me know how the skill assessment will work for her in this case? How to get 5 points for the partner?

Help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Both of you have to be assessed from same skill group in order to claim 5 points. If you select occupation from SOL for assessment then she also should select an occupation from same group and should get positively assessed.

Engineering Degree and occupation are not necessarily have to be same.

Go through the occupation list and find out which occupation is best suitable for work experience. Have you gone through? What is your PTE score?

Correct. Now if both of you are in programming, then you will fall in same list. Anyhow, ensure that both of you choose an occupation which falls in same list. It depends which occupation you choose now. Normally, ACS cuts 2 or 4 years from your work experience in order to get POSSITIVELY assessed as software engineer if person is from EC or EEE
