Default Birth Certificates SC190 Visa

Can anyone perhaps advise whether the main application and spouse ( i.e. non-minors) applying for a SC190 Visa are required to provide their Unabridged Birth Certificates or will the Abridged be okay? We have Unabridged for all the kids but not for ourselves..
If in fact we do need them are we able to supply them post lodgement and after a case officer has been assigned or must they be submitted ahead of that?
Thank you

Many have been successful without providing a birth certificate because the category "Birth or age, evidence of" has many other sub-categories (apart from "Birth Certificate" itself)- like "SSC Certificate", "Passport", etc... and any one document from these sub-categories usually satisfies the requirement. A case officer may still request you for the birth certificate, and if that happens, you can provide it then- i.e. after lodgement and after a case officer has requested.
